Editorial policy

How we write, fact-check, date and review guides and page content, how generated text is controlled, and how commercial relationships stay out of editorial.

Last updated

This policy covers the guides, suburb narratives, FAQs and all other written content on greatrealestateagents.com.au.

Who writes it

Guides are written by the Great Real Estate Agents editorial team and bylined as such. A first draft may be produced with the assistance of a large language model; every published guide is edited, fact-checked and approved by a named member of the team before publication. Nobody with a commercial relationship with an agent or agency reviews content about that agent or agency.

Facts and sources

Every factual claim in a guide links to its source inline. Where a figure comes from a third party with a commercial interest, such as an agent comparison business, the guide says so. Commission and fee figures are labelled as typical ranges with the source and date, and are never presented as our data until they come from settled sales we can see and can be labelled by sample size.

Legal and regulatory statements are checked against the primary source (the Act, regulation or regulator's published guidance) where it is accessible, and otherwise against the regulator's own website. Nothing on this site is legal, financial or tax advice; we say so where it matters.

Dates and review

Every guide shows its publication date and the date it was last updated. Guides are reviewed at least every six months, and sooner when a law, a regulator's guidance or a market statistic they rely on changes. Corrections are made in place and the updated date is changed; material corrections are noted at the foot of the guide.

Generated content on suburb pages

The narrative paragraphs and FAQ answers on suburb pages are generated from the data on that page and nothing else. A second automated pass checks every number in the narrative against the page data, and a sample is checked by a person before publication. Where the data for a statement is missing, the statement is omitted rather than estimated. No narrative is published for a suburb that has not passed the indexation gate described on the methodology page.

Independence

Editorial content is not influenced by partner status, advertising or any commercial relationship. We do not accept payment for coverage, placement or links. Guides that mention agents or agencies do so on the basis of public data only. The partner label on agent cards is a disclosure, not an endorsement.

Words we do not use

We do not describe any agent as "sponsored" or "featured", because we have no paid placement. We do not describe any review as "verified" unless we can show the evidence. We do not promise a "guaranteed sale" or claim that using this site will "save on commission"; we do not negotiate commission and we make no claims about outcomes.

Complaints and corrections

To report an error, write to editorial@greatrealestateagents.com.au with the page address and the correction. We acknowledge within two business days and either correct the page or explain why not. Disputes about rankings or reviews follow the processes on the methodology and review policy pages.
